Roger Figueroa was featured in a story produced by Bon Appétite with the Starbucks Foundation. The story focused on community connection, food re-distribution, and food security.

Roger Figueroa, was honored with one of the Inaugural Community Engaged Practice and Innovation Awards from the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement at Cornell, presented to 13 faculty members, one from each college and school.

Members of Cornell’s Action Research Collaborative joined representatives from New York City agencies at a symposium Aug. 11 to discuss innovative new solutions aimed at dismantling the systemic racism that has led to inequities around food and nutrition, education, health and employment.

Roger Figueroa presented alongside a group of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) and faculty experts who provided insights during the April 13, 2021 hearing focused on opportunities to diversify agriculture and address food justice. The hearing was hosted jointly by the New York State Senate Committees on Agriculture, Labor and Social Services.

Scientist Roger Figueroa grew up overweight in Puerto Rico which, in part, drove him to spend years developing a multi-faceted approach to helping low income communities affected by obesity and food insecurity in New York State and Puerto Rico.
