Baz Perry
Associate Director, FIG Lab
Baz Perry is the Associate Director of the FIG Lab.
Baz works to fulfill the lab's commitments to community-driven research projects, education, and advocacy by exploring collaborations with partners in social services, food producers, distributors and retailers, health care organizations, and public policy. Through this work, she seeks to increase the number of New Yorkers and Puerto Ricans achieving nutritional security and greater health.
Previously, Baz served as the Agriculture and Food Systems Team Leader at Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County, where she co-wrote the first Food System Plan for Tompkins County, built a best-practice model Produce Prescription Program, ran the Tompkins Farm to School program, advised the county’s COVID-19 Food Task Force to distribute food during a time of great disruption, and supported area farmers and farmers markets.
Baz serves on the Tompkins Food Policy Council Steering Committee, the Emergency Food and Shelter Board of Tompkins, and Chairs the Finance and Policy Committee for the Finger Lakes Payments for Ecosystem Services Work Team. She holds a B.A. in economics and religious studies from Cornell University, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University, and a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan.
