Reah Chiong
Ph.D. Graduate
Reah (she/her) received a PhD in Community Nutrition and completed her Dietetic Internship in 2024. She received her B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Child Development and Family Studies from Cal State Long Beach where she also served as a BUILD scholar. In the FIG lab, which she joined in 2019, she contributed to many community-based projects including the evaluation of an online grocery shopping and nutrition education platform for families in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). She has disseminated her work via poster and oral presentation at various conferences and has published in high-impact, academic journals in the field including the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and Nutrients. Her primary research examined the role of stigma in food assistance programs like SNAP. During her time at Cornell, she also served as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement which aimed to provide resources for scholars of diverse backgrounds to pursue and prepare for graduate education. She is committed to empowering communities and hopes to utilize her background in nutrition, mixed methods research, and her creativity to dismantle barriers to nutritious food and promote food equity across all levels of the socio-ecological model. In her free time, Reah enjoys cooking, yoga, and spending time with her cats, Rice and Beans.
